Introduction to the Town
Battersea is relatively well attended by travellers, mainly because of the majestic Albert Bridge and the Battersea Bridge, both of which lie right next to each other. The fact that Battersea is so close to Chelsea is a contributing factor to its popularity as well.

Battersea essentially revolves around the areas just over the bridges - Battersea Park is one of London's most beautiful, inventive parks where there is something - an adventure playground, the Japanese Peace Pagoda - for everyone. The Battersea Bridge Road is filled with stylish cafes and restaurants, as is Lavender Hill, which is, however, not as pleasant as the Bridge Road. The other main area in Battersea is around Clapham Junction, which blends in with Clapham, and there are quite a few places to shop and browse around here.

It is definitely worth visiting Battersea, especially its centre, which is the most attractive part of the town. The bridges, the riverside views, the park, and the buzzing Chelsea spirit around this part are a joy to experience. The rest of Battersea is admittedly rather dreary but it does still have quite a few fine restaurants and some fine shopping.
