The Grapes
Many London pubs claim a history but few can boast the literary connections of The Grapes in Shad Thames. This one also claims a strong connection with Sir Ian McKellen of Harry Potter fame and has his mark upon it. Worth a visit for the views and the informal atmosphere.
The fact this long, narrow little pub has managed to survive the frenzy of Docklands redevelopment shows what a special place it is. Now a listed building, it stands at the end of a row of similar dwellings, some of whose residents are knights and lords. 76 Narrow Street
