The City - Travel


London Transport Web Site

The City is very well served by all types of transport. There are numerous tube and bus stops, as well as two Rail stations. Because it is situated on the Thames, there are regular boat trips. The City is very well served by road routes in and outside London.

Rail
There is a Cannon Street and London Bridge station. Cannon Street is in the centre of the City whereas London Bridge is naturally on the river. Cannon Street is served by Charing Cross, Liverpool Street, Greenwich and Maze Hill stations. London Bridge is served by Waterloo, Charing Cross and Balham stations.

Docklands Light Railway runs from Bank into stations on Docklands via Tower Gateway.

Bus
There are six regular bus routes.

Road

From the north take the AI or AI 0 into London.
From the west take the A40 into London.
From the east take either the A 11 or AI 3 into London.
All roads to the City connect with the A40 which serves this area. Cars entering the area are subject to congestion charging. Parking is both difficult and expensive.

Tubes
There are tube services to Tower Hill (District and Circle line), Monument (District, Circle, and Central), Cannon Street (District and Circle), Mansion House (District and Circle), Blackfriars (District and Circle). Likewise, there are other tube services to Bank (Central), and St. Paul's (Circle).
