How to get there

Hammersmith is very well served by tube, bus, road, and rail. A major factor is its very central tube station, which, in turn, has a very large bus station right above it. The most important road coming into London from the west passes almost straight into Hammersmith on the Hammersmith Flyover. London's most famous railway station, Paddington, is only a very short tube trip away.

Rail
Paddington is not terribly close to Hammersmith, but you will be able to take a very quick tube ride from the Paddington tube station to Hammersmith on the Hammersmith and City line which will get you there within ten minutes. Paddington is very well served by most of the railway stations in the Home Counties around Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Middlesex, and also throughout the West and South-West of England, and in Wales.

Bus
There are six regular bus routes.

From West London and the suburbs take the A40, A404, A4020, and the A316, all of which pass very close to Hammersmith.
From the south-west take the A3 into London, which in turn joins onto the A308 in South-West London, passing close to Hammersmith.
From the south take the A3, A24, or A20 into London which connect to the circular road.
From the east take the A11, A12, or A13 into London.
To reach Hammersmith from the centre of London you must get off the A40 which encircles the heart of the city.

Tubes
Hammersmith is very well served by its main tube station, which is situated right in the middle of town. It is connected to the Hammersmith and City line, District line, and Piccadilly line. There are quite a few neighbouring tube stations next to Hammersmith, such as Shepherd's Bush (Hammersmith and City line and Central line), and Goldhawk Road (Hammersmith and City line).
