Freud Cafe
Walton Street, OX1.
Map Ref 7.
Freud, or I should say FREVD using the Latin U, is one of the most charismatic, dramatic cafes I have ever seen.
Once an extremely large church, as is evident by the grand church windows and the altar with Jesus and his angels fluttering about him like flies, this cafe gradually assumed new heights of trendiness when the church seemingly fell into decay and the students started to hang out. You can contact FREVD on 01865 311171

Café Republique
A welcome stop-off for coffee and a cake, but really I could have been anywhere. Perhaps I’m too old to appreciate the very big difference I’m told about between the lesser known Café Republique and Starbucks establishments. Standard fare, standard service, but did the job for two pairs of tired old legs that needed revitalising. (June 2001)
Alice's Tearooms
