The Tower of London is full of delights for
families - kids love to see the huge dungeons, where famous
prisoners were incarcerated, and later they get to visit the site where
the prisoners had their heads chopped off. The tours by the
Beefeaters (The Yeomen Warders of the Tower to give them their proper
title) are wonderful, full of the sort of gory detail that youngsters
love, and - best of all - the tours are free, once you get into
the Tower. See the thumbscrews and the rack, and the huge axe
and block which the gaolers used to chop heads off with. After your
visit to the Tower why not round off your day with a boat trip on the
Thames
from Tower Pier?
