Stanley Spencer was born and lived in Cookham all his life and his paintings are inspired by the vistas of the Church, the High Street and the River Thames.

The Stanley Spencer Gallery is situated in Kings Hall in the village of Cookham Berkshire and contains a permanent collection of his work, together with letters and memorabilia, including the pram in which Spencer wheeled his equipment when painting landscapes.

The works exhibited include the famous "Christ Preaching at Cookham Regatta" . The Gallery is open daily from Easter to October and at weekends in the winter months.
