Peter Layton's London Glassblowing

Peter Layton's London Glassblowing is a hot glass studio focused on the creation and display of contemporary glass art. The studio has a reputation as one of Europe's leading glassmaking workshops with a particular flair for the use of colour, form and texture.

Situated in the Leather Market, a short walk from the River - a distinctive 19th Century building erected by the Leather Warehouse Company in 1833 as the centre of London's leather trade, the Glass Art Gallery offers a light spacious area for the display of contemporary glass.

All work is for sale and information on the artists and their work is available.

Peter Layton produces individual pieces of decorative glass in sculptural and functional forms.
Visitors to London Glassblowing may experience the heat and magic of the ancient craft of glassmaking while watching a gather of molten glass evolve into something of value and beauty.

The workshop offers introductory classes in glassblowing which are designed to allow students to experiment with molten glass and to learn the basics of glassblowing, under the guidance of a qualified glassmaker. Previous experience is not necessary.

Classes last the whole day, 10am-1pm and then again from 2-5pm. Only 4 students are enrolled for 2 teachers, therefore instruction is intensive, and by all accounts most enjoyable. The cost is £250.00 including tuition, materials and the use of tools. A total payment is required in advance to book your class.

Admission is free.
Large groups including school trips are required to telephone ahead and book.
