CamdenCamden - The Locks and The MarketSTOP PRESS! - This area was devastated by a fire recently and efforts are being made to restore the stalls and little shops as quickly as possible. Do visit because there are still a lot of interesting things to see and do here.
This lively area of London has grown up around the locks at Camden High Street on the Regent's Canal. The Market is an eclectic mix of stalls selling everything you could possibly think of, from ethnic jewellery and clothes, punk rock accessories, the latest in High Street fashions and food from all corners of the World. Do you like Ethiopian food? or Colombian, or Laotian - Never tried it? - then come here at the weekend and prepare yourself for some culinary adventures! I loved the German bratwurst stall with sauerkraut, and the Mexican, and the Chinese.... and so on and so on. For the less adventurous you can enjoy the offerings of Starbucks and McDonalds...

You can also board trip boats from here and sail along the gentle reaches of the Regent's Canal, listening to the many beautiful sights and sounds around you. You can even take a restaurant cruise from here, and enjoy traditional food whilst gently gliding past London Zoo, for instance. Camden Lock and the Market and surrounding area can be summed up in two words - "something different" - for the visitor to enjoy. A very unusual part of London and one that is endlessly fascinating. -
