Charles Dickens lived at 48 Doughty Street  Bloomsbury, an early 19th century house, for 3 years,  during which he wrote in the house his novels Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby. He also finished The Pickwick Papers while he was here.

The house is a well thought out museum devoted to Charles Dickens, and many of the rooms have been left as Dickens knew them.

There is a collection of papers, books, manuscripts and pieces of furniture all associated with Dickens and also First Editions of many of his most famous works.  It is well worth a visit, especially if you are a Dickens fan.

Nearest Tube station Chancery Lane. Parking difficult.
