KensingtonKensington GardensThese famous gardens were originally part of the grounds of Kensington Palace and were developed under three Queens, Mary, consort to William III, Queen Anne and Caroline, consort to George II. They contain statues of Peter Pan, and the famous Albert Memorial - erected under the orders of Queen Victoria "and a grateful nation" to commemorate her husband - who was the driving force behind The Great Exhibition in the Gardens in 1851, It has just been the subject of a major renovation. The gardens are much enjoyed by children, particularly the Diana memorial garden, and provide an oasis of open space and fresh air in this part of London.
