NewhamThames Barrier Park,The Pavilion Barrier Point Road Newham , E16 2HP Tel: 020 7511 4111 E-mail: info@thamesbarrierpark.org.uk Visit London's newest riverside park for fifty years, opened in November 2000 by Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London. The park was designed by renowned modernist Alain Provost, who was also responsible for the Parc Andre Citroen in Paris. The park is a stunning piece of architecture with a strong continental flavour. On entrance visitors are greeted by a stunning water fountain that flows onto its key feature of a sunken landscaped garden, called the Green Dock. The Green Dock runs across the park and a promenade running along the riverside, making it unlike any other park in the UK. The park includes the 'Pavilion of Remembrance' commemorating war victims from the London borough of Newham. For the children, there is a specially designed playground and basketball court.
