The only remaining part of the Great Palace of Whitehall, the Banqueting House was designed by Inigo Jones for King James I and completed in 1622. This hidden royal treasure is right in the heart of Westminster.
Come and see the superb proportions of Jones' design and the magnificent ceiling paintings by Rubens - commissioned by Charles 1 and installed in 1635.
See the site of the execution of King Charles I and the room where Charles 11, and later William and Mary, accepted the English Throne.
The Undercroft is cool in Summer and warm in winter.
