The Animals in War Memorial

Park Lane London

Left: the Animals in War Memorial

This beautiful new memorial was opened in 2005 by Princess Anne.  It is sited in Park Lane near to Marble Arch and it commemorates the millions of animals who were caught up in wars over the past 100 years, including the mules and horses who transported the guns and ammunition to the Front during WW I and the selfless heroism of dogs and other animals who help their human masters, no matter what the danger to themselves.

The memorial was the brainchild of the novelist Jilly Cooper, and is proving very popular, both with visitors to London and to Londoners who love animals.  If you are in the area don't miss it.
