   Women at War Memorial

                      Whitehall London SW1

This new memorial was unveiled in 2005.  It commemorates the sterling work done by the women of the UK during World War II.  It is a striking modern design, which incorporates many of the uniforms and costumes worn by women during the War thus emphasising their many and varied roles.

It makes a change to see a memorial to women - the vast majority of horse borne statues in London are commemorating yet another male military or naval leader!

The memorial is in Whitehall - nearest Tube station: Westminster.
