Women at War Memorial

This new memorial was unveiled in 2005.  It commemorates the sterling work done by the women of the UK during World War II.  It is a striking modern design, which incorporates many of the uniforms and costumes worn by women during the War thus emphasising their many and varied roles.
It makes a change to see a memorial to women - the vast majority of horse borne statues in London are commemorating yet another male military or naval leader! The memorial is in Whitehall.
