Riverside Studios

Riverside Studios is a unique arts and media Centre on the banks of the Thames in Hammersmith which has, for over 20 years acquired a reputation for quality and innovation with its eclectic mix of theatre, cinema, dance and visual arts programming. Over recent years it has played host to some of the great names in international and domestic performing arts including work by Peter Brook, Rupert Lepage, Declan Donnellan, Michael Clark, Steven Berkoff, Vanessa Redgrave, Theatre De Complicite and the highly acclaimed Company B.

The Cinema is widely thought of as one of the best repertory cinemas in London offering a widely celebrated programme. Renowned for its regular seasons of high quality International film as well as broad spectrum of domestic and mainstream work. It includes an annual Italian season as well as Greek and Czech seasons.

Riverside was run by the BBC in the 60s and 70s and was the first studio in London to broadcast in Technicolor. Riverside continues to maintain its close connection with TV broadcasting and production including hosting Ginger Production's long running TFI Friday. Many other production companies including Chrysalis television, Avalon TV, Channel 4, Hat Trick productions and the BBC often film and use the facilities at Riverside.

The modern and friendly Cafe Bar serves a European menu of affordable food and drink for lunches or evening meals. Positioned at the heart of Riverside, the bar and eating area are atmospheric and spacious, with high industrial style ceilings and several more intimate coloured alcoves with comfy seating. Substantially re-developed over the past year the Cafe Bar is now a worthwhile destination in its own right where you can often see actors and celebrities mixing with from from local businesses who lunch here most afternoons. Riverside has a wonderful River Terrace overlooking Hammersmith Bridge. This is a lovely relaxing suntrap in the summer particularly great in the evenings where you can enjoy a meal and a drink and wonderful views of the Thames.
