I am often impressed with the way actors are able to work within such a small space and how intimate it is for an audience. I felt that I was sitting in their living room and absorbing the cold atmosphere. That is the very nature of The Greenwich Playhouse and the hostility of Hedda Gabler gave that cutting edge. It is ideal for this source of Realistic Theatre as we are instantly drawn in.

Ibsens classic play of a woman’s struggle in a trapped marriage and in a man’s world. She isn’t as free as someone like Nora in a Dolls House as her manipulation and scheming eventually plots her own plight.

Alice de Sousa led the cast superbly as the lead role and showed many complexes to the character. I was also impressed with the set and costume design as would have been appropriate in Ibsen’s time.
