The London Wetland Centre

"Saving Wetlands for Wildlife and People"

The London Wetland Centre is a major London visitor attraction which brings Water birds and an amazing section of wildlife to these Wetlands just 4 miles from the heart of London.  It is the best urban site in Europe to watch wildlife and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Located on the banks of the River Thames in Barnes, Southwest London, the Centre is home to a spectacular range of rare and beautiful wildlife, including Bitterns, Kingfishers, Bats and a colony of endangered Water Voles. It is part of the famous Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust charity which was founded by the naturalist Peter Scott (son of the Antarctic Explorer Robert Falcon Scott) at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire.

Free Guided tours and regular events help children and adults to learn more about this amazing haven for wild anumals and birds so close to the centre of one of the largest and busiest cities in the World. The Visitor Centre with cinema and Interactive Discovery centre explain what The Wetlands Centre is about, and you can also visit the Bird Airport viewing observatory and wildlife "hides" and enjoy the Adventure Area for Children. Cafeteria and the usual amenities for visitors available.

There is also a restaurant - The Water’s Edge Room - which provides you with the perfect setting for your function, be it a Christmas Party, Company Presentation or other event.
