Thames Towns

Putney

It's got great views of the Thames from the magnificent granite bridge, and Putney is a vibrant suburban centre for eating, drinking, having a good time up and down the High Street, over the Heath, or down by the river!

At the end of March each year the town's population quadruples for the day when it becomes the starting point for the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. But all along the south side of the Thames - up river from the bridge there are several Rowing Clubs for the very, very fit or just the fairly fit. And of course, with gentler tastes in mind , there is Putney Heath, the Leisure Centre and all those excellent pubs, restaurants and specialist shops to visit.
