Reading
The town of Reading is a large, young, vibrant place situated close to the River Thames with plenty to do, and boosted by major events such as the annual Reading Music Festival.
Alternatively, there is the Forbury Band concert season from June through to August at the lovely Forbury Gardens, and nearby river walks or boat trips where you can take in the magnificent views. Other annual events include the Woodcote Rally with hundreds of vintage vehicles from steam engines to a 1959 pink Cadillac.
Reading also has an annual Real Ale and Jazz festival, and an annual Mayoral Games event for the under 16s at the Palmer Park Sports Stadium. The town also has its own museum, the Museum of English Rural Life, located close to the station.
There are plenty of shops to see, including in the main Town centre and in the relatively new Oracle Centre located on the Kennet and Avon Canal. There are several good restaurants and a wide range of pubs and bars.

Reading has a large student population from the nearby Universities and a local Football team (Reading F.C.) which had enjoyed Premier League status.
Along the river is the beautiful Reading Bridge and plenty of water sports activities to do as well as some wonderful wildlife.
